MW2 black screen
When I open MW2, I'm greeted with a black screen, I can't see my cursor, I can still hear the background music, then a few seconds later I'm returned to my desktop. When I try to open the window on my taskbar, it continues to show the black screen, then returns me to my desktop. I deleted mp_playlists, but that still isn't helping me. Any clue what's going on? When I originally got the game, I started it up and I changed the graphics settings, which caused the game to close. I haven't been able to get back in the game since.

Every time I delete the mp_playlists file, I start up the game and the file comes back after deleting it.

That playlists file is supposed to be there.

Verify the game cache.

It's still not working, after doing all of those things.

Not sure intergrated graphics are even supported for this game.

Update your graphic drivers.

Is there anything else I can try?

Not really, that GPU is not supported, so you're pretty much stuck unless you want to try a system format.

Tried to browse for solutions in 2024 - finally fixed mine by changing the config file (steam>steamapps>common>call of duty modern warfare 2>players>config_mp). I had to change 2 lines in the text file using notepad to do so:
seta r_mode "1920x1080"
seta r_displayRefresh "120"
Those were the default settings in the config file, so I had to match them to my monitor I was using. I think that the issue was the display refresh rate was not supported by my monitor. Once I set it to 2560 x 1440 on mode and 144 on refresh then my game started without blacking out my screen (and putting it to energy saving mode).
