I live... again! Blood is my favorite boomer shooter of all time. It's not for the faint of heart though.

This is an example of a game that's hard to learn but easy to master. The first few levels will be painful, but once we get the hang of it, we'll be throwing dynamite left and right and bunny hopping through the levels with the maniac that is Caleb, the main character. Is he good? Is he bad? Regardless, he's the guy with the gun, and he's here to donate some blood... someone else's.

Level design is brutal, but pretty well balanced. The game is best played in Lightly Broiled for a fun and challenging enough power trip, or in Well Done for a hellish experience, both literally and metaphorically. E3M4 is one of the creepiest levels I've ever played. There's many references to old school horror movies, like The Shining, Cujo, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and others! The art direction is absolutely marvelous, if eerie. We hear whispers in our heads, children laughter, cultist chanting, satanic sounding voices. We see lots of body horror, creepy paintings, even a decapitated head that blinks. There's also a lot of screaming and yelling, especially when enemies die. Blood is an intense game.

On the same note, here is the coolest weapon I have ever seen in an FPS game: the voodoo doll. You stab the doll and hurt the enemy on the crosshair, but missed "shots" will be self inflicted damage instead, so beware! Blood also has the creepiest looking weapon I have ever seen, despite being a pixel art: the life leech, which is a staff that has a skull on the tip with an eyeball that stares into your soul. Also, I think I will soon have nightmares about disembodied hands saying "I'll swallow your soul!".

Achievement completion is a lot of fun here: the majority simply requires finishing each episode, finding the secret levels, doing a speedrun of a specific level, and the rest is just cool actions. Classic game in the FPS community, notorious for it's difficulty but not to hard once you learn it's mechanics. Had a blast playing it

Perspective is weird and warpy-looking, shooting sucks, not enough ammo drops, and shotgun sucks.
